McCook is located in Red Willow County in southwest Nebraska, which part of the Denver Front Range. Our community is nestled 14 miles from the Kansas border in the gently rolling hills just north of the Republican River. Interstate 80 is 70 miles to the north, Interstate 70 is 90 miles to the south, and U.S. Highways 6, 34 and 83 intersect in McCook.
The climate in McCook is often compared to that enjoyed in the Denver area, with lots of sunshine and generally less snowfall than the rest of the state. With open horizons and fabulous sunsets, you’ll definitely feel you are in big sky country.
